The Dartmoor Merino wool is a volumous and soft, full bodied yarn. Wonderful to wear against the skin it is great for hats, headbands, mitts and scarves amoungst a wide range of suitable projects.

From their home on our farm within the Dartmoor National Park, our sheep are lovingly raised to produce this amazing fibre which is then spun locally to create our yarns. We have bred the Dartmoor Merino with our rare breed Whiteface Dartmoor Ram, the handsome Mat and our Merino ewes. The Merino has a super fine fibre that is incredibly soft and comfortable to wear, characteristics that the Dartmoor Merino maintains. We were so pleased with their wool which was a hit with spinners and so decided to send some to the mill too!

Our farm is home to about 300 sheep of various breeds. Find out mor about us in The Flock section.

100g of DK is approximately 165m in length.

We recommend that all knitters knit a sample tension square to gauge their tension before commencing a project. Dye - All of our skiens are hand dyed and not mass produced. This may mean that there are some colour variances and somtimes colours may transfer or fade.
